Greetings from Alaska
I was first introduced to Blaser while living in Germany. I had a chance to handle some nice rifles and shotguns, including Blaser, at a "local" Kettner's and Frankonia. While hunting with German hunters I got to see some R93s in action and admired at the engineering of straight pull bolt action. Seriously considered purchasing one at the time but never pulled the trigger. Many years later I ended up purchasing a nice used R8 Safari Pro from a well known forum member.
I mainly hunt moose and bears in Alaska. However I am an equal opportunity hunter so anything that's legal to hunt I am game. A couple months ago I had a chance to put my R8 into action while hunting for a Kodiak brown bear and Sitka black tail deer. It came in handy to have interchangeable barrels for sure going from shooting a giant bear to small deer.
Considering another R8 in the near future so looking forward to learning more about it from other members.

Welcome yhc, would love to hear more about and see some photos of your hunts on Kodiak Island. Haven't got to Kodiak yet but I've been near enough to see her on a clear day.
Cheers

Re: Greetings from Alaska
Welcome to Blaserbuds, there are a lot of helpful folks here eager to share what they know about Blasers. Alaska is a beautiful state, I lived there in the 70's and guided on the Brooks Range and a little on Kodiak, Afognak and Raspberry and then went to work for the Alaska State Troopers. I moved away in 84 and wonder why I did some times. It is a wonderful state with many wonders to marvel at. You are a lucky man living there with a Blaser in hand.
