Hello From Indiana, USA

Post by TheWhitetailNut »

Hey Guys, been looking here to learn as much as possible about the R8. I suppose I'll post now as I have purchased the receiver for my Big Bore and expect to be collecting the rest of the pieces soon. Thank you all for this resource!

Welcome aboard! I also like my big bores. Have the steel receiver in the Pro stock and it tames down the .458 L.ott. Makes shooting the .375 and the .416 Rem a breeze

I've hunted the lower 48 quite a bit DIY and even Ontario for deer. This last year I went on my first safari and it was even better than I had hoped. That trip was because I wanted to do something on a dusty growing bucket list before I turned 40. After decades of reading about dangerous game hunting I'm trying to put together a Buffalo hunt for 2020 . Actually Alaskan Brown Bears are my ultimate hunt, but Africa is such a great value right now.

Anyway I'd seen Blasers before but it never caught on until I was in Namibia and everyone else there was German. After stroking the bolt I knew it was the rifle for me and the last 9 months were spent consuming every resource I could find on the matter.

Hello,

Here is a Blaser link that shows animations that describe how the internal workings of the rifle operate: http://www.blaser-r8.com/#home

In case you don't have it - see the attached pdf which is the offical Blaser R8Owners Manual

Good shooting!!
