Maybe you should step down to a .22 with aim point

Blaser R8 Proff Succes .308 win - 9,3x62

2 shots in the same hole is often luck......3 in the same hole is using Olsens shooting stick....

Not much you can't shoot with 22lr out to 300m, not a great deal you can kill with it, but you can hit it.

Hit a crow just on 300 yards in the wing and the bullet lodged just under the skin in the joint.
They are down to 50ft/Lbs at 300m that's what a magnum .22 airgun will do at the muzzle so you need very precise aim at that range.
I've made a number of 200m kills with the .22 and a number of Fallow and goats at 100m-120m with head shots.
Definitely fun when you make a well aimed one shot kill at long range with a pea rifle.
