I own a Taurus Raging Bull 454 Casull 8 in and a SW PC .500 S&W 10 in
Both guns are pleasant to shot , when you are used to shoot them . For beginners with handy cannons , no ... absolutely unpleasant !
Using a benchrest , is possible 4 in group sizes with 500 @ 100 meters usina a Burris FF3 Red dot
Both powerful and accurate gun

Nice guns there. Do you ever take any of them hunting and if so how do they do in the field?Perdizhunter wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2020 5:07 am Another group with PC 500 .

I purchased this S&W recently , for handgun hunting , but I didn’t hunt with it yet . This field test was to zero red dot and iron sights . I purchased a Lee mold and I intend to use it with hardcasts . In a few days , I’m gonna shot some wild hogs , and I’ll post the results here .
The Taurus I used it several times as side gun , especially to finish wounded animals . I use hardcasts when hunting with it . Hardcast makes a wound Channel like a tunnel . I”ll place a picture below
I own a Rossi Puma 454 Casull as as pair with this revolver . Shot several Wild boars , using this caliber / Hardcast 300 grains .
Very powerful caliber . No chance to hogs with good shot placement .

Re: S&W 500 - Fire breathing monster
I used to have a BFR in .500 S&W. It was a lights out shooter and I shot a ram and a hog or two with it. I intended to shoot a bison cow, but my kids had moved out by the time I was ready to do the hunt, and 350 lbs of hamburger for the wife and I was just too much of a good thing, so I sold the gun. My one criticism is that the long cylinder revolvers are inherently bulky and just don't balance as well as their smaller cylinder counterparts. The BFR was an accurate gun, but also pretty awkward.

We don't really want to talk about 2008.... Won't make it to DSC. Nice looking critter there. Those long barrels just look cool.
