K95 Stubby Barrel
Has anyone ever gone crazy and whacked their barrel to 16ish inches for a super compact build? I’m thinking of doing it to a 308.
I’d love to see pictures of “ custom” K95 builds.

Most of the German k95 308's and 8,5x55's are 16-18 inches, because they are using a moderator.

I’m honestly interested in something similar myself. Possibly a 20 inch 30-06 barrel or 30r? I would love to see some pics as well!

Here is one with 20 inch barrel, not the best picture. 7x57R.

Like that a lot. The K95 is the sum of all my desires in a hunting rifle. I love the simplicity of a single shot. The weight is a pleasure to carry even with a quality optic. The whole rifle, including the Blaser scope mount, just flows and exudes QUALITY. I have a 6.5 CREEDMOOR ( I DO live in the US and every sporting goods and bait’n tackle shop has ammo) with a 24” barrel. It’s my soybean field setup. I’d like a stubby 308 barrel when I go down to the swamp looking for deer and bear. I might even put a Aimpoint HS 1 on it. If I could also find a 22 HORNET barrel, I’d be sot.

If anybody has any interest in a NIB short 300wby barrel for a K95 that is threaded with a Blaser brake on it...holler at me.

Re: K95 Stubby Barrel
I’ve done a lot of work with a 16” 308, with a suppressor. With the right hand loads the 308 can perform really well out of a short barrel loosing less velocity proportionally than just about any other caliber. My preferred loading is with IMR 8208XBR and 168 grain bullets like the Hornady ELM, Sierra Tipped MatchKing, or Berger Classic Hunter. You can use the tougher premium hunting bullets at short to medium range for added penetration but at the expense of slow kills at long range. The load specifics are in the load development section.
I mostly shoot this loading out of my 16” R8 but also have shot it from a 20” K95. Performance is nearly identical in both and exceeds factory loads from standard length barrels.
And is good to 800 yards.
