Hello from Australia

Post by cm76 »

Hi all,
It is nice to be a part of this forum and look forward to learning more about the Blaser rifle platforms and hearing from likeminded users and their experiences. I currently own an R8 Professional Hunter rifle in 500 Jeffery which is one of my favourites. I'm hoping to pick up an S2 double someday, but not easy to find out here in Australia.
Thanks, Chris

Welcome aboard mate. Great to see some more locals join this forum.
Their is a lot of knowledge on this forum, and people more than happy to share it.
I too have a PH in 500 Jeffery, it’s an awesome setup. ;)

Welcome, and an interesting preference for a round in Australia, you don't see too many like that.

I don’t know about that Speedy. I’m waiting on a PTA to pick up my 500J…. and I know of 4 other Brisbane shooters with a 500J and at least one 505 Gibbs …..

Thanks everyone. I have always enjoyed the large bore rifles, and use them every chance I can get, Sadly many of the local range rules have changed (calibre restrictions) and you cannot take them out for a shot like you were able to years ago.

They do exist here, but it's mostly to do with either overseas hunting or BGRC.
Aside from when I lived in Darwin I've never seen anyone hunting with them, but then that's probably got more to do with most people's love of longer range and flat shooting then people wanting to get in close and stop them hard.

But as I'm fond of saying it's not so much about what what you use, it's about how big a smile using it puts on your face. 👍
