Another BD14 post

Post by Peter72 »

So today finally got shoot it.
As far as accuracy go's with the 30-06 loads I used, 1.5 - 2 inches with 59gn 09 under 150gn SST'sat 100m.
I'll be bumping this up for next session.
Currently loaded up 60, 61 and 62gns 2209 under the SST's.
Took me most of the day to go through my loads as I made sure the barrels were cooled right down.
222 wasn't the best, 18.5-20.5 2207 under a 50gn vmax.
Still got some work to do.
So now I'm deciding what powder to try next in the 222.
I've got the following powders on hand:
Bm2, 2208, 2206h, 2207 and 8208.
Any suggestions on which powder to try next?
Z8i as expected is bloody awesome.

The first thing that comes to mind is I don’t like the way you are supporting your BD14.
I found with mine that it shot way better with any front rest support much further back.

Also with such thin barrels I only shoot 3 shot groups.

That's just the firearm resting to cool down.
I was resting the forend just in front of the hinge.
Next session I plan to be doing 3 shot groups as suggested.

24gr of BM2 and 50gr Hornady Vmax works for me.
Sub 25mm at 100m for 3 shot group

There must be more BD 14s in Australia than there are in Germany
