Hi from Seattle

Post by CuriousBias »

New member post. :)

Learned about Blaser from the THLR.NO YouTube Chanel about 7 years ago. Got a R8 professional about 5 years ago and have slowly stopped shooting my other rifles. Just got a K95! So far I've loved everything about Blaser except their bipods.

I am mostly into medium distance shooting target shooting to improve my occasional mountain hunting trip.

Also, looking for optic recommendations for my new K95. I've been a Swaro fan boy for a while and have recently be curious about Blaser's own B1 line, but I am looking for other suggestions too.

B1 is a decent optic.

Is it the same as a Zeiss V8 or Swarovski Z8?

Only you can figure that out for yourself. They are made in the Minox factory since Minox is a partner company of Blaser. Minox has built fully Alpha level rifle scopes with their THLR product.

Thanks for sharing that they are made my Minox. I assumed they were made by Zeiss since the form factors and mag ranges are so similar.

Welcome to the fold! My swaro recommendation for a K95 is a Z6 rail mounted scope, but as mentioned everyone has their own likes for what hunting/shooting they will be doing with the platform.

I would not buy a Blaser optic, unless I got it at a hell of a sale.

@Gamsjagd - Can you elaborate on why you would not recommend a Blaser B1 optic? Just overpriced?

@Chamois71 - Looks like Swaro is discontinuing rail mounted Z6s? I can't find them as an option on their website.

Swarovski discontinued rail mount Z6s when they came out with the Z8i several years back. If you want a new rail mount Swarovski today your options are limited to the new Z8i or DS.

My favorite scope for the K95 is the Zeiss 2.5-10x50 HT rail mount. Great optics and it is shorter in length which I like. Unfortunately they are hard to find
I also like the 1.5-6x HT model depending on Caliber and use. I have also purchased a V6 2-12x50 with the ASV turret for longer range shooting. I got the V6 because I couldnt find a 2.5-10 with a turret and I really like the scope and I think (to my old eyes) equal to the HT models. I have used the Swaro 2-16x50 rail with BT and it is an excellent scope (great deal on it in marketplace) and i am selling it because I wanted matching scopes on all my barrels. Budget wise the Zeiss Varipoints and Diavari are great scopes and you can pick them up used cheap, and I also have one of those listed for sale. In the end they all work and are great optics it just depends on budget and what you like.

Thanks for the recommendations! I saw your Swaro Z8i 2-16 listing. That is one of my top choices right now. I need to sell either my Steiner M7Xi or my Swaro ATS 80 HD before I buy the next optic. If I manage to sell one and your optic is still available, I would definitely be interested in getting it.

Yes, as Eddie already chimed in…rail Z6’s aren’t in production and if you want one you’ll need to find one in this forum or elsewhere. I found one here and now I just need to get the K95 to put it on! Good luck in your quest!
