Anyone getting out fishing?

Post by dinsdale »

Anyone here fish?

Finally getting some warming temps after a cold wet spring. Bass are finally getting active here. This is one of the main reservoirs to supply NY City. You can fish and do some hunting on the land controlled by NYC in the area; NY City is one of the biggest land owners in the area, they buy up land to protect the watershed.

I hunt the other side of the this hill, this view is mostly private land.....

Funny you bring that up. I'm hoping to get my bass boat out and put the motor on it before fall. Have a lot of work to do before we get that far but it's on the agenda. Our bass lakes here are all producing huge fish and in decent numbers. I am missing my fishing finally. Got so into the gun stuff that it took a back seat for a long time. Have more opportunities to go fishing here than hunting plus the people to do it with. So it's coming...

We have some local lakes that are owned by the state and some that are owned by power plants. The power plant ones used to be good but not much anymore. The state waters are doing very well.

I used to do a lot of fishing up until 9-11. Then dynamite got very hard to get. Now it is nearly impossible for a good, law abidin, fisherman to buy dynamite. Damn terrorist! They screw up everything.

Nice fish! I miss bass fishing, there was a limestoner near where I lived in Southern Ontario years ago that had more crayfish per rock than I've ever seen anywhere else - and nice smallies as a result!

My season wont open until June 1st when I get to chase grayling, though the river has opened early this year so I could try for sea-run browns if I can get my wood supply organised  .
