Corjack Invitational Squirrel Hunt
The 2009 squirrel hunt is now over. I consider it a huge success. The weather tried not cooperating and the food was lousy, but everyone acted like they were having fun. I will start posting pictures and telling stories the next few days as I am a little tired right now. We had four more attendees this year than last. I would like to thank everone for attending and making this such a great event.
Thanks
Ron

Re: Corjack Invitational Squirrel Hunt
I hate to argue with our host but the food was awesome! The cook, when he wasn't in the jaegermeister, was attentive and kept his guests happy, full of good food and drink. It was a wonderful weekend and is an event that anyone who can, will want to attend next year.Corjack wrote:The 2009 squirrel hunt is now over. I consider it a huge success. Annie and I are very tired after all the festivities of the weekend, but it was great! I, personally, can't think of a single negative event the entire time. Good food, good friends, and great fellowship! I sincerely enjoyed meeting everyone this weekend, and I left there feeling like I have made some new friends for life. Ron was a spectacular host, and I am proud to call him a friend. Thanks again Ron for the great weekend. YOU are the reason that it was such a huge success.
To everyone not able to make it, you should start making plans now to attend next year. I assure you that you will not be disappointed.

Re: Corjack Invitational Squirrel Hunt
It was my first time for the Invitational Squirrel Elk Pro-Am hunt, but won't be the last. Ron did an amazing job with the food, shooting and all details of the event. I had to add the Pro-Am to the title because Rob must be a professional Squirrel hunter. The event reminded me of the best of deer camps from my youth. It was good to meet so many good people of like interest. The enjoyment vastly out-weighed the costs, now I have to wait another 11 months and 25 days for the next one.

So for those keeping score...
That's 4 posts "I was there" and still not a photo of the festivities.
Typical.

Re: Corjack Invitational Squirrel Hunt
You guys are way too impatient. So here you go.
Safari Ray and gredford in the John Harris memorial campground
Ray hitting the sauce early on
Some of the cooking set up
Retrieverman posing with his Beretta 20 gage SXS he traded Ron Benson out of
Ray on his second cup of sauce and me peeling an onion
My nephew and his friend erecting a second tent
Sophie looking for a snack
A doe coming off a clover food plot on the Elk and deer ranch.
Just food plot
Rays elk pre flop
Post flop
Ray walked up to his still flopping elk, stuck the ported muzzle of his 460 S&W between the elks ears, I thought to myself "why the hell is he getting so dang close" about that time he pulled the trigger, the ported barrel blew one ear plumb off, I was wiping ear shrapnel off of the front of my shirt and my face. He thought this was funny as hell!
Retriever Man posing with the Berreta 20 gage SXS he traded Ron Benson out of.
Me shooting a 28 gage SXS (I liked it!)
Retrieverman hitting the Blaser-Koolaid
Blaser Kool-Aid Jug
Robbie was the big winner shooting his limit on squirrels all three days. He won the poker shoot and the most squirrels shot. He thought it was much more challenging than hunting Africa and cost a heck of a lot less. This was just his opinion.
Not the whole group but everyone that stayed until the end.

Here is the nice little cow elk I shot yesterday. I have determined that 232 Norma Vulcans are too frangible when they strike bone. The bullet hit the cow on the tip of the jaw on a frontal shot and blew up with out penitrating to the spinal column. Will reserve them for deer size critters in the future.
Will post more pictures tommorrow
