Cute little girl. Will be intertesting to see the hunting dynamics between the two and just how different to wire hair is from the smooth?

It rougher and she'll probably grow a mo. She'll be a few kilos heavier as well and "should" bit a bit more outgoing, so I'll be starting the training straight away.

Got the new girl, plenty of get up and go and she's only 8 weeks old. The older dog is still very guarded

Thought you might like to see this photo of a rauhaardackel (wirehaired dachshund), which I took at the conclusion of a driven hunt in Germany in October 2010. Of all of the types of dogs used for driven hunts, the dachshund is my personal favorite, because their great enthusiasm and energy is disportionate to their diminutive size.

Yes very nice. Not sure mine will be that hairy.

The new pups got the nose and inquiring mind for sure. I'll be starting the obedience training soon, I just hope its not as much effort as the other one. I hope she'll be out hunting with the other blaser buds in April and we get a deer

Its a mini smooth hair in snow weighted down by a heap of junk. Will have trouble tracking and covering its ears won't help it either listening for movement. My dog moves okay on game trails in snow but will get cold if we are waiting. Hence shes' smart enough to sit on my lap and keep me warm. The wirehair hasn't seen snow yet.

Here's the dogs on the weekend up at Dargo. Put up two deer. Saw three. No shots. The older dog wind scented a rabbit and as I brought the BBF up I remember I only had a solid slug so I let it go. They were quite apt at climbing fallen logs to get a better view of the river flats.

Where are you finding them, I looked for two months before I ended up getting a Whippet.

There was three breeders giving with standard wirehairs on dogzonline. I notice now they are gone. You have to keep watching or contact them and put your name down. I waited a year before the wirehair came up, and it was the first in two years, then I see just three months ago there was three breeders , go figure.
