Any recommendations????

I have Norton anti virus and 2 weeks ago it said I was beeing attacked from some link on another hunting site....then it said it stopped it,and everything was OK....but since pages don't load very fast like they used too....

Thanks for any help.

If you are running Windows and have the 'restore' function in your software you can go back as far as it'll let you and 'restore' the programming to what it was on that date. It won't affect your documents or stored websites. It'll kill off any bugs that you might have picked up lately. (At least it should!) It will also restore all software that was loaded into the computer at the time the 'save' was made. Any software or updates made after that date will have to be made again.

What I did here in the states is I joined Carbonite and it backs up my computer continuously when I'm using it. IF the computer's hard drive crashes I simply get it fixed or buy a new one and log into Carbonite and it automatically restores every one of my saved documents and files. I recently had an issue with my notebook where a friend got a virus into his computer and it emailed itself to all of his friends. When we opened the file it sabotaged my computer and it was running horribly. I have a Toshiba Notebook and knowing my files were backed up I re-installed the original software package that it came with. Then I had to re-install my Office Files and a couple of other programs that I use. Logged into Carbonite and it started loading the computer with my files, several thousand is what it showed to be downloading. With DSL it still took well over 12 hours to download everything. In the process I used the computer and it did everything out of sight and did not interfere with my searches, etc. It is a lifesaver. Here if you go to their site to subscribe and use the offer code "Rush" they'll knock off 2 months of a years’ service. When I joined it was one month and it cost me $54.95 for one year. It works no matter where you are, as long as you are on line. It's http://www.carbonite.com if you want to look into it.

Also FWIW, everybody is different but I don't run Nortons, McAfee or any other anti-virus software. NONE, ZIP, NADA. I used to run it and was talking to one of our computer gurus who mentioned that as long as you don't open files that you don't know the origin of and run all your email through Hotmail or Yahoo that you should be fine. Both of those emails have up to date virus programs that check your mail for bugs. Granted a new one can get through but I’ve had very few issues since I QUIT using virus software. Before that the computer would have all kinds of issues and most of the time it was the dam antivirus software screwing with what you were trying to do.

As for the sites that claim to speed up your computer. Mostly nonsense from what I know. Maybe somebody else has found one that actually does something but most speed up the taking of the cash in your wallet and put it in theirs! :o Then they kiss you on the forehead and tell you how fast your computer is running now!

Thanks, but hardly... wish I was I'd be rolling in the cash.. Got a good friend who's retired from the state and drawing that pension and working as the IT guy for a local school district knocking down another $100 K or darn close to it. He really is good though. Got to hand it to him.

Forgot to mention one thing. (Probably applies to our friends from down under, near as I can gather...   ) They said something about cruising porno sites.... some are pretty nasty and can really make themselves at home in your puter. Not a good idea. And if you do set your 'cookies' to a higher level so they have a harder time setting up residence in your system.
