Corjack Invitational Squirrel Hunt

The elk hunt was just a management/cull hunt, it was just a meat hunt. While it was fun, it was just a fill your freezer type project. There were several nice bulls on the property and a lot of deer running around. It was very interesting just riding around looking at the animals.

Jim Guist, a friend of ours, shot this bull on another ranch about a hundred KM away from where we were at. It was estimated at 447 inches.



We had a little trading going on at the squirrel hunt this year and I would like to see an increase on this in the future. We had an increase of four attendees this year and it looks like this trend will continue in the future as well.

I have posted all the pictures I had time to take but others took several as well. It is now time to start harrassing them to post them. Here is the list of harrassees

What a great week end. I got to see some old friends and had the pleasure to add new friends. I think the food was even better than last year. There were good campfire lies by the dozens and a few truths. Corjack was his usual excellent host.
I shot a bunch of clay birds, fired a number of handguns I had not had the chance to before, parted with a Beretta 20ga. side by side that was intended to be a keeper, acquired a Blaser rimfire barrel, stuck an elk cow with an arrow, tasted one or two of Corjacks special brews and just had a hell of a week end with a great bunch of guys. What more can you ask for?

What can I say? This was one heck of a weekend. I finally had the opportunity to meet, in person, some of the folks I have been conversing with the past couple of years. Although I did purchase my small game license with the intent of hunting squirrels, I never made it out hunting because I was having so much fun just shooting and learning from everyone else. Hopefully next year, I'll make it out into the woods hunting. But till then, I want to thank Corjack for being a fantastic host and for organizing such a great event.

Jaw bones and especially teeth , even human teeth are very hard on bullets.

I have shot deer and a coule of big pigs with the 232 Vulcans and they did fine, I think they might be a little tougher bullet that the Norma 286gr Alaska, baised on the deer and pigs I have shot with that bullet.

The best 9,3 bullets [Softs] I have ever used are the 286 gr Woodleigh RNSP and the 286 Nosler Partition. I have shot a LOT of game of all sizes with them.

I have only shot one deer with a 293gr TUG, now called the UNI Classic, but it did impress me with its penetration and its internal damage.
