Just out of curiosity , did you Gary, or the previous owner check the open sights ?
That thing just screams open sights to me . It would come up and swing like a shotgun on anything you flush out close to you . Maybe a scope in your day bag for the times you spot something at distance - un disturbed or bad light ?

Yeh Ken, the open sites are very good, one of the best I seen, I was hitting a 2lt coke bottle at 70 meters with either barrel, that to me is a fine accurate rifle,,,biggest problem for me is wearing glasses, so I can't see that well for distance or open sites,,,also in poor light no mater what nothing seem to really stand out, I mean really stand out, I like the VXR 2-7 , but I think chuck has a solid suggestion, we will see if I like the whole S2 concept and if we end up keeping her, if i do keep her I can than explore ways to make it more suitable for Deer stalking or over hounds, at the moment I'm struggling with the weight, not sure she will be a keeper Ken, but I do love the accuracy and potential of this rifle, so lets see what happens.

If you are hunting over hounds, I'd consider docter 3.5moa dot. This will really keep the weight down.

Thanks Chuck, I looked at these just quickly but could not figure a way to mount it using the Blaser specific mounting system, not sure exactly how they would mount up, have you ever used one or mounted such a unit on to a Blaser, also hard to get, Hermanns Sport used to have them but I haven't seen any advertised for a long time, if you can advise on the mounting and sourcing, it may end up on the rifle, the Leupold and mounts added just makes the rifle way too heavy for my old fragile bones.

Gary

There is a member here who makes all kind of mounts for Blasers .
He also sells them on eBay .
Get on eBay and search Blaser .
I have two of his mounts for my R93 and they are very good .

Does the S2 use the same mounts as R93 and R8 or is it a different system ?

I bought the henneburger mounts off pigeon on here. I see that you can get the blazer/ recknagel set up as well . The former will be the lightest setup. I have it on my R93 with the Burris fasfire 11. I'll post a picture later when I get home.

Like this. Very light. Still better than open sights.

Henneberger with the aimpoint micro BBF97.

I like this red dot the best.

Great photos chuck, I like either to be honest, the lighter one is the R93 Reckagel set up? where could I source that from, I cannot see how it quite fits the Aimpoint is it a single base that attaches direct to the saddle cut on the Blaser, sorry just dumb as horse poo when we enter this whole new world of specialized Blaser rfiles and gear. does Mialls carry this gear?

Pigeon is a sponsor on this forum. You can order through titanium works. The single base still cam locks there is no chance to move. Its not recknsgel, its henneberger. And half the cost.

Gary, just a word of warning, if the screws aren't exactly right for the Burris they should be okay for the docter or trujicon. I bought some small stainless steel ones at the local fasteners.

Thanks, I'm actually a mechanical engineer (wouldn't think by the dumb questions) I have a great selection of very specialized screws nuts and bolts, once this arrives I'm sure I can figure out the mounting of the Aimpoint, In the past I have machined up mounts, rings all sorts of things, but usually I need a sample to run CAD over and model it, from there it's easy sailing.

Cheers

Gary
