Picture my brother sent that was taken on a friend's ranch in Colorado. I already sent a message asking if they allow hunting and for how much....

I have had elk a few times, and for my taste buds, it is better than whitetail venison.

I've eaten quite a bit whenn visiting my bud. He grinds it into hamburger and uses it just like beef hamburger. It's obviously leaner but from a taste standpoint you really can't tell you're not eating lean beef. I've also had some that was older than dirt that was made into Swiss steak and you'd have been better off dipping your shoe sole into the tomatoe paste and eating it! A friend of mine in Colorado grills his like you would a steak and he loves it. He's been limited so far to cows and young bulls and says all of it was very good. Overall it is very good meat. The best eating is a cow. The old bulls can be tough. A big elk will also provide 300-500#s of meat. So you can fill your freezer and more with one animal.
