Long Range Hunting Rifle Build
Got the stock nearly a year ago. Got the Barrel in today. 26 inch to finish 6.5 1-7.5 twist Proof research Sendero contour. This will be a rifle for western hunting. For where I might encounter shots in excess of 300 yards. Plan on shooting factory Hornady ammo with 143 grain ELD x ammo, or ammo loaded with that bullet. Not sure if I will do it in a Creedmoor, or maybe the 6.5 PRC. The barrel is surprisingly light for its size. Probably still be a bit to heavy for a high altitude sheep or goat hunt, but Antelope, Elk , maybe cous deer, might just fit the bill. Maybe have it going bang in another year.

Seems to be a little unfinished, but with the quality of carbon wrapped barrels these days they make great sense for a long range gun you might have to carry in.
I got sick of lugging heavy barrel guns up hills to shoot from quite a while ago, now you can have the best of both worlds, heavy barrel and reasonably lightweight.

I'm soft and I don't care.

Yep, still missing a few key pieces, like action , trigger and bottom metal.

Proof research barrels would be one of the most accurate barrels I have shot. If I keep my 338lapimp, I will replace the current barrel once shot out with a Proof research. What action and trigger are you looking at Ron for this build.

I reckon you should fit a 98 action, another barrel in 8x57, and maybe a classic straight stock. .

I'm really looking forward to seen it finished Ron.

A nice wood stock of course ?
In this age of hyper precision, carbon, stainless and synthetics, everyone needs a rifle like that. Just for the joy and beauty of it.
