EL Range upgrade for 2021

Post by Sakobud »

Seems like the EL Range is getting some upgrades for 2021. Has track assistant so you can find exactly where the animal was standing ( upon your stalk to find downed animal you are able to range back duringit to see what direction and distance you need to travel to your last range )

1. Changed the ranging button and finally put on the right side now
2. Able to store 3 different profiles via the app to each rifle etc...
3. New electronic compass will show angle, air pressure, temperature and direction.
4. Ranging from 10m to 2000m now

Yep, I have a pair of them all ready. Will report more on them next week.

Swaro have done well to get that to the market with all the covid carry on and ensuing problems.

Looks like they still have the lumps on the bottom, but at least that should keep a lot of the RF hardware out of the barrels, which is a good thing.

Price is a tad eye watering when compared with old non Swarovision EL based RF bin that it replaces, but then the Zeiss and Leica x42 RF bins aren't cheap either, and at least we now have up to date RF bins available from all three.

Just noticed that Swaro have also managed to give the EL Range a little more FOV than the EL.

As many of you know, I've held out, keeping my rangefinder separate from my binoculars. But it seems that Swarovski has been listening to hunters and addressed what I have seen as impediments to going down the path of integrated range finding binoculars. So I ordered a pair of these to see how they do in real life. The major issues for me were optical clarity without compromise, close range ability (10 yards) and right hand operation for when I have my bow held in my left hand. A major plus is the ability to interface with my smart phone and find downed game across canyons. I'v had to spend hours trying to find animals that I shot across canyons before.

If this works, without too much fussing, it could just about be worth the cost on its own.

Another fellow out west pointed out to me that this feature would also come in handy when putting a stalk on a bedded animal.

Unless one is in the US, still no Outdoorsmans stud, which is a shame, but probably will have no effect of sales.

I'd be interested to know what performance is like after last light, given that other RF bins fall short in that department. Need to be an 8x42 to test, except maybe in moonlight.

Its great to see Swaro are doing things for the hunter and not the bird watcher this time. Be very nice if they bring these out in their 15x56 binos and beat Lecia to it. Also with Bluetooth capability's to kestrel 5700 elite, as I'll be the 1st in line to get one.

Don't hold your breath on that. Leica still list a15x56 Geovid IIRC, but perhaps it doesn't have sufficient tech doo daddies for you ? .

I would also be very surprised if Swaro were to put upgraded glass and RF capability into their 15x56 SLC, given the effort they have put into running with the x42 RFs. Never say never - but.

Don't underestimate the value of the birdo and non RF market. For example, Swaro have put a lot of time and money into the new x42 NLs, which have no RF capability, and by all accounts, are very popular with hunters, and whoever else.

I have the 15x56 Geovid in meters. Awesome binos but time is ticking by and they need to up date. Be nice if Swaro and Leica went into a bino war and just started making super cool $hit to out do each other. Then we could go see Theo and get great discounts

Does anyone know if one of the 3 programs can be for a bow instead of a bullet?

Yes, bow and two rifles is one of the examples used in the literature.
