Binocular opinion

I’ve currently been using a fine set of Swarovski SLC 7x42 binoculars for many years and been very satisfied with them for my hunting/outdoor needs; excellent in low light and in forest/field conditions in Pennsylvania. This past year, I started noticing the weight a bit more and I primarily still hunt in timber (spot/stalk). Please chime in as to thoughts to drop in binocular size/weight or just toughen up a bit and stay the course with my SLC’s. I was in an optics shop this past weekend with my wife and we looked at some of the latest Swaro smaller binoculars; 8x25CL, 8x30CL…very nice and couldn’t believe the clarity for such small optics. Check out the Swarovski NL Pure - they have definitely the sharpest optics. I prefer the 8x42 and use it during night hunts on wild boars without artificial light

I have not used the 8x25 or 8x30 compacts but am currently using a pair of the NL pure 8x32. I think you should check them out as well. Very nice.

BTW: If You realy want to go the ultra-compact way, check out the CL Curio. It has 7x21 and is much more brilliant then the normal 8x25 and 10x25...

Those compacts are just working in daylight - as soon as it starts to get dark,You are out of the game...

But I would always go again with my NL Pure - there is nothing better!

Thank you guys! I actually checked those curio models out as well and was amazed how nice they were for a set of glass you could fit into a shirt pocket!

I’m planning on going back to the shop soon with my SLC’s to compare. These chaps have a viewing area outside the shop so you can look thru different glass…I figure on being there when it starts to get dark to see how the several models compare.

Another vote for the NL Pure. I think you will find that 8x32 NLs are far superior to the Swaro x30 compacts.

And unless you are hunting at night, the 8x32NLs would likely be all you need. If you have been infected with the 10x obsession, you will need to step up to 10x42s for very low light (after sundown) performance and general user friendliness. 8x42s excel at night.

Agree with Pigeon that (for me) the NLs are currently as good as it gets. (unless you want a built in range finder)

I had 8 x 30 compact which were lighter than my current slc 10x42, but completely different at low light conditions.
I will take extra weight for the view in last 20 minutes of legal shooting.

I've got a couple. They are a bit dinky but they work.

Cheap if you live in the US and therefore don't have to pay much in postage for delivery. I'd say buy one and try it. Not much to lose if you don't like it.

Ive been using it for the past 5 seasons, really like it bit I ise it on an inexpensive pair of Nikons. Dont own alpha binos but if I did I would not use it for the type if hunting and terrain I am in. They are too exposed.
