Was out shooting sporting clays yesterday when I came across something out of the ordinary.

Sure does
I’m pretty sure he said it was a “Bane” brand, manufactured in France. I don’t think I’ll ever see too many others around.

I used to see one every day. Because I had one. A darne shotgun, or maybe the less common Charlin.
My honest opinion, don't buy one. They are like french cars.

I always liked the look of them, but for some reason I just don't like em. It must be the French thing, there's something about French engineering that I never quite like or trust.
I'm soft and I don't care.

I do like French shotguns and have a small collection, a R-11 Darne 12ga, a Manufrance Robust 12ga, a Manufrance Super Costo (Ideal) 12ga and a petite little 16ga sxs that came off a French ocean liner dating to the early 1900's. All are well made and have been very reliable. The R-11 is all steel and walnut and weighs in at 5lb 15oz just a delight to to chase pheasants and sharptails across the prairies.
I forgot the svelte little pinfire 16ga, I'd love to take it out for a day in the field. Circa 1850 and still tight with vestiges of case colour.
