K95 223 barrel

Post by snookntarpon »

Would love a 22LR barrel for the K95 but a good/better choice I feel would be a 223 for practicing with the single shot and not burning out my hunting barrel. Instead of shooting 20-40 rounds per range visit I could comfortably shoot 100 at a fraction of the cost and shoot longer strings from different shooting positions. As well as having fun shooting it for predator control...

Reached out to Blaser today and waiting to hear what can be done. Will report on response here.
Anyone ever have one built?

Probably a hard no from blaser, might have to settle for a 222 or hornet.

I definitely like the little hornet, with some trailboss reloads it's damn quiet and pleasant to shoot for fun and small game.
Although a 223rem barrel would be easier to load quiet subsonic for, although the trailboss in the hornet is as quiet as subsonic's from a 22lr anyway.

This might be a point of contention amongst K95 owners, but I definitely prefer a rimmed round in one then a rimless. I could see myself getting a rimmed .224 instead of the hornet or a 223, but I've got what I have and I like it.
I'm soft and I don't care.

Trail boss is almost as rare as a.22RF K95 barrel.

Get a 223 barrel and affordable ammunition will never be an issue.

Currently I shoot a rimless round and have no issues. Still no word from Blaser but confident I will get a reply. Access to ammo and cost of it is the main reason for looking for a 223, and I have always wanted a non AR 223...
I reload for the 7-08 and id shoots 150gr ELDX to 500 at 1/2 moa from the bench if I do my part, but really want to work on different shooting positions and not be worried about burning out my hunting barrel.
Thanks for the feedback

I agree with you a 100% but I don’t think it is going to happen. I have written to Blaser in Germany multiple times with zero response and I spoke with the Blaser folks at the SCI show last month and they didn’t offer any hope of that happening. 22 hornet and 222 (I have both) are your best bets. The rimmed vs rimless cartridge debate will go on forever but both work just fine.

Blaser does not want to chamber the 223. This is considered a military round in Germany, and for some reason they have butt-hurt about it. Not sure why they chamber it in 308 if they are so butt hurt.

The German hunting community is a bit Mandalorian about the way they do things. Camo is still moderatly taboo, depending on the hunting group. There will not be a 223 Rem K95. It isn't going to happen.

Ok maybe not, I just noticed that his description and photos don't match.

Call him anyway or Van and see if they have one in stock.

Lucky I got a big tub of it, and at 2.8gn a load then it's going to last a very very long time.

Wasn't blaser advertising the custom shop option to get any barrel made in any current blaser chambering.
