Hi All, my friend is going to purchase a R8, what system are people using?
The gun shop has provided a picatiny rail and it looks ridiculous , so high off the rifle and eye relief looks strange
Thanks in advance
Richard

Re: Blaser R8 and mounting a Hik
I think most are using the factory standard and qd mounts. The Pic rail is a great way to work around the high price of the factory mounts, but, as you point out, without a cheek riser, eye alignment is unlikely to be optimal. I went with a Pic rail on my Mauser M03 simply because non-rail qd mounts seem to be made of unobtanium, and low 1” rings can be aligned with the comb reasonably well. That said, it certainly wouldn’t be my first choice if there were other reasonable alternatives. On R8 barrels, I currently have a qd, a fixed, a Pic rail, and qd mounted Aimpoint.

Thanks for both your replies, I pointed him in the direction of the Innomount, but he has decided to put a standard scope on his Blaser and attach the Hik to his .243 Tikka
