Just thought I would share a little trick with any .22 Hornet reloaders out there, looking to accurately measure headspace on the 22 Hornet case.
I have been using a #5-26 Hornady “OAL” insert. Not the headspace comparator insert, as Hornady do not make one for the Hornet. They do make a blank headspace bushing but it is to big for the Hornet.
However, the #5-26 OAL insert fits the Hornady headspace comparator perfectly, and the hole is .264”. Ideal for the Hornet shoulder.
It really works a treat for the fiddly Hornet, measuring headspace and bump accurately.
Anyway, that’s Easter’s useless piece of information.
