For one year Kristoffer Clausen will try to survive in the Norwegian wilderness only on what he will hunt, fish or find of edible plants/berries in the nature. One year in the wild is the title of his project. Equipped only with his sleeping bag, hunting rifle/shotgun, fishing gear, and some outdoors equipment he will have to make his own shelters if he want’s roof over his head and he will have to find his own food.
Kristoffer is filming his project and he will make a series from his year in the wild, it will be available with English language. He is also writing a book from his expedition and both will be avialable before December 2010.

Re: A modern viking
Thanks for posting. Definitely not my style of 'survival' though. Did notice that his rifle was a 202 though!
Funny that the fox tasted as bad as it smelled. Should have given the head to the poor dog to eat! Boiling heads is definitely not something we do here.
Otherwise beautiful scenery and would definitely be a great place to visit! Very peaceful and tranquil looking area.

He had me right up until he ate the deer eyeball. Kinda lost interest after that.

Forgot that part. Yeah that was a bit on the sick side. Especially when the whole deer was there to eat! I could see eating that stuff if there was nothing else but yeah, gag me. That was gross. Anything for the buck though and I'm sure he'll make some selling his vids and his books. Beats working...well maybe not if I have to eat fox heads and eye balls. An Oscar Meyer weiner looks real good about now. At least they grind the stuff up and add flavor so you don't know what you're eating!Corjack wrote:He had me right up until he ate the deer eyeball. My computer is moving slow, and I have only got to watch a couple of the videos. They are pretty cool. I don't know about this one, but I have heard that most of these "survival" programs here in the US are bogus.
As far as eating eyeballs, I won't rule it out. I guess it depends on how hungry I was.

Re: A modern viking
My German grandmother would saw a pig head in two, remove the brains and fry them for breakfast, then boil the head and mix the meat and the juice with meal and put it in loaf pans in the refrigerator. It would set up when it cooled, then she would slice it and fry it for meals. She did discard the eyeballs however. My motto is " if my granny would not eat it, it don't need et!" Only thing she ate that I will not, is a certain brand of Limberger cheese she loved. I have smelled dead bodies that stank less.

I remember that Limberger stuff. WHWEEWWW that was potent! I haven't seen or heard of it in years. We used to have it here locally somewhere. Maybe they keep it out back so it don't run off the customers.
We used to eat calf brains when we butchered but after a while we didn't get no smarter so we quit eating them...
Just got in my old age where I DON'T have to eat those things and I am far from starving so I should be ok without them..
Retrieverman, what I did was 'start' each video and when it started to load I paused it and let them load. Did all of them pretty much one after the other and then went back and watched them. That way you don't have the start/stop stuff to contend with.
