Well the visit went very well, Andrew brought his son, and he is a very down to earth, intelligent fellow. Andrew shot the R8 in 9.3X62, liked it, but thought the trigger was a little heavy. He tried his Blaser in 223 Remington with some Fiocchi ammo, but it did not do very well. I had some Black Hills, 52 grain hollow point ammo, we tried it, and it would shoot an inch or better consistantly, so I sent the box home with him. Sophie had a ball, playing with the company, and begging treats at dinner. It was very hot to be shooting, but it was still a lot of fun.
Having trouble loading pictures, will get them up later.

Well, we made it home. 1110 miles (round trip) is not a distance for a mad dog.

What can I say? It was very interesting trip. Ron, thank you very much for your hospitality! The T-bone was juicy and tender and the whole thing was very educating and exciting for me and Paul. As I sad, my house is your house now, so whenever you pass though Chicago, just give me a call. My special thanks to Sophie. She is a sweetheart. I hope that in a future we can gather together with you and other guys from this forum under a shadow of your trees, shoot a few rounds and have a long friendly talk about our hobby and the life in general.
Another good thing - I had a chance to talk to my son for 16-17 hours. I doubt that I had this opportunity in the last few years.
Thank you again, Ron.
Andrew

It was my second time I handled a R8. First time was in Reno this January. My impression: Blaser is Blaser. Nice looking, well built gun. I did not fill the barrel jump and the recoil was very miled (9.3x62). However my son felt the jump. So it probably depends on anatomy of your body and how you shoulder the rifle. The trgger is too heavy. It reminded me the trigger on my Remington 700 out of the box. There was a jocke that Remington puts a lawyer in each trigger assembly. It looks like that Blaser did the same

Overall, it is a very nice rifle, but I will sick to my R93
