You look at the pictures carefully, and notice it looks much like a Sightron.

From the ad:
Product Information
The Swarovski Z6 2-12x50 L is a device used to make hunting with a rifle easier. With a capability of producing up to 12x of magnification, this Swarovski rifle scope also provides hunters with wider ranges of view. It is often the choice in competitive hunting, due to the scope’s quick magnifications. This 50 mm rifle scope is particularly useful in heavily wooded areas because it makes the targets found quicker. While the Swarovski Z6 2-12x50 L has a magnification device for one eye, the rifle scope makes it easy for users to open both eyes during hunting for a maximum shooting precision. The 11.65-inch Swarovski rifle scope is compact enough to take on long hunting trips. At the same time, the Swarovski Z6 2-12x50 L is lighter than other similar devices on the market, weighing just over 1 lb. The 50 mm rifle scope is the ideal choice for professional hunters as it provides highly reliable magnification in any type of terrain.
Can you say "translated from Chinese"?

This story sounds familiar, didn't somebody sell a high end scope but shipped a cheapo and the story went viral? this might have happened a year ago I think he lived in Texas?

Yep, he was a member here. But I believe the scam was on another site. I am not sure, but I do not think he is a member here any more.

AFAIK he's disappeared off the face of the earth. Lived over in the Bastrop area. Completed one deal here where everything was straight up and everybody was happy. I'd exchanged a number of PMs with him including him coming down to shoot the R8 before buying one. He was a fairly young fellow, (late 20s - early 30s). Think the scam was on 24. Strange dude that was for sure.
As for this scope somebody is going to be one mad customer. And with the way Ebay has things set up now you can't even email/pm the potential buyers that something isn't right. Looking at the other products that website sells the most expensive item they have showing up in their 'sold' listings is $169. for a 2 TB hard drive. Scopes aren't their norm, much less high end scopes. Do like the way they positioned the scope in those photos where the name wasn't distinguishable. hmmm

Well it went the length of the auction and was sold for $1500. Several guys on 24 emailed the seller and got responses that they were 'investigating' if the item was fake or not. Either way the seller didn't pull it and sold it... It was also reported to Ebay and they did nothing about it either. Ebay sure has become a sleazy operation. Not that I ever really thought much of them in the first place... As the money keeps flowing their way they couldn't care less.

I am always suspect of new gear on ebay. I am much more comfortable buying used and have had good luck buying high-end scopes used on ebay for the past 20 years.

I still see these on Ebay from time to time. The sellers though tend to keep them in the $300 range. They also hint at it being 'like a Swarovski'. Been a long time since I hung out on some of those old outdoor sites so they may still be there as well. Buyer beware..
