K95 need a barrel cut and threaded.

Post by Mckay »

I have a 308 barrel I need cut and threaded for a suppressor for my kids to shoot. My gunsmith's spindle on his lathe won't clear the barrel lugs/sights etc. Can anyone recommend a smith that can do this for us?
Thanks!
Mac

I don't suppose his bed is long enough he could do it working between centres?

That was my first thought too, but if his Smith can't work that out I'd be looking for another Smith anyway

Bed length is not the problem. Spindle diameter is the problem with extra girth with the integral lugs and sights on a k95. Yes my smith does not have a big enough lathe for this.

I'm thinking that too actually, if he can't work out removing the sights and putting through the spindle either, he's probably a fairly rough smith to begin with.

Also if it has sights on it already then they will need to be moved. It might be best to send it Blaser USA to get the work done, if nobody can come up with any other options.

Our pleasure, the option of contacting Blaser USA seemed to be a solid lead if you ask me

My guy does a good job.

Las Cruces Gunsmithing https://lcgnm.com/ used him on many a Blaser barrel.

The trouble I find is that if you can't find a decent Smith around you and you have to send it away, then you might as well send it to the official Blaser Smith.

I just figured if your going to send it away, then send it to the people that know them best.
