And we get two openings this year, the Wednesday for the retired fortunate and the Saturday with the rest of the crew.

One of the longest shots on a fox that dropped it. 27 grams of #7 TSS.

Last weekend, dropped a fox at 70m on the run with 27grams of #7 TSS. Shot broke both back legs so it didn't get far.

Going through my stash at a rate of knots

How are you finding it to load with?

It definitely adds a little versatility to a shotgun, not to mention range.

I'm having to do an update on TSS. I noticed something strange in a couple of my cartridges today some had opened up like they had split. I was firing 27 grams of TSS BB in the triple crown. Looking at the forcing cones and the barrels I could see a lot of scratches. So i got the borescope out and sure enough there are gouge marks at the end of the chamber and some in the barrel. Definately could see where pellets had impacted the wall and gouged out some steel. I checked on the 20G silver pigeon and there was a few and on the BD14 and there was a few. I checked my 12 gauge silver pigeon which hasn't fired and it was fine.

So the cutting of the cartridges and roll crimping them plus the mylar which I have recovered is not enough to protect chambers or the barrels. If I keep this up with these loads I'll destroy the chamber so I'll be going back to lead for now.

All you have to do is move to a thicker walled shot collar. I’ve now shot several hundred TSS loads through my Benelli and there is no scoring of any kind. All the TSS factory loads have that one thing in common, thick walled shot cups whether it be 12, 20, or .410 bore. There is no need for the thin shot collar used in lead loads because the density of TSS means a much smaller volume of shot which leaves a great deal of room to accommodate the thick walled shot cup. I routinely pick up my fired shot cups and examine them for scrub through and have yet to find any that allowed shot to contact the barrel. I also had my forcing cone lengthened so there is a more gentle transition from chamber to bore but I doubt that does much.

Steel shot cups are not as thick. Look at Federal flight control Flex and you will see what I mean as thick. Have you examined fired shot cups to see if there is scrub through? It is impossible to score a barrel without scrubbing through the shot cup side walls.

Yes recovered plenty of the shotcups and the mylar and the don't look like the pellets have penetrated so i thought no problems but i can see the gouges on tg he forcing cones so something is happening.

I’m pretty sure it would be impossible to scour the barrel if only plastic is in contact. The plastic is softer than the barrel steel whereas the tungsten is 5 times harder and will easily cut into the steel if it comes in contact with it.

Chances are that is shot moving forward of the cup upon firing, I'd try putting a thick over shot card in front of the wad.

No chance if the shot cup is as long as the shot column. The shot cup will be jammed up against the base of the shot cup as long as the shot column is under acceleration.
