9.3x62 Load?
I am thinking of getting a 9.3x62 barrel for my blaser and was in at the local gun shop today and got a price on highland ammo while I was there and was surprised how cheap it was for a large caliper like the 9.3x62 so my question is, is it really worth reloading? Or just buy factory in bulk?

How much does Highland go for?
I think it'll depend on what you're trying to do with the rifle, and how it shoots your ammo of choice. Not sure I'd rank the Highland projectiles as premium, if say you wanted to shoot RWS TUGS/Uni Classic you'd be paying ~$140 per 50 for bullets or ~$120 per 20 for ammo (makes reloading with $57 per 50 NABs positively cheap

I've got a mate who owns the local gun shop so it will work out a bit less than $1.40 per shot, but I guess your right mate, if my barrel won't shoot the highland then I guess it's another story!

Re: 9.3x62 Load?
Mine shoots it just fine, so my plan is to load a tougher bullet to get the same POI as the highland factory ammo for Buff and use the factory stuff for everything else

I'm soft and I don't care.

So what is the Highland/PP brass like compared to the $129 per 100 Lapua http://custer.com.au/price-list/

Re: 9.3x62 Load?
Highland ammo is fine for pigs and a bit of fun and great for running the barrel in. I will go with Gunny on this one, I don't rank the pill as premium it's just a bit of tin to me. I will be very interested how Speedy gos with them when he moves up to NT when he gets to play with the buff. if I go this year myself to the top end I will 100% get my mate up there to buy the highland ammo for me to save on the bullshit of taking ammo on the jet up their. We only really hunt pigs there but if I run into the big cow and get 1/2 a crack at one for sure I will pump one or two into him but i would only like to take a head shot with them. But for me the Tug all the way to the bank. Vic arms has them for $140 a box nice and cheap if the 30+ king is looking at you

Re: 9.3x62 Load?
To be honest it's not bad at all I got 3 bags of 100 new cases for $30 a bag and i have reload the same case 10 times so far and it's still fine. Only problem i have found the odd one get's stuck a bit in the shell hold when reloading but fine in the gun. Nothing wrong with the case at all.Gun Barrel Ecologist wrote:So what is the Highland/PP brass like compared to the $129 per 100 Lapua http://custer.com.au/price-list/

I use 51gr of AR2206H and CCI primers The 51gr is off the top of my head and data is in the shed but that would be close.Gun Barrel Ecologist wrote:So what is your powder & primer under the TUGs in the PP cases?

It's a compilation of recommended loads I found whilst cleaning up the hard drive, so usual caveats apply

Re: 9.3x62 Load?
I might try and work up some when I get to Darwin then
I will be happy with 2350fps anyway, nothing hit with a 286gn pill will be in very good condition, another 100fps wouldn't make sfa difference anyway.
