Post by dchamp »

(Cartridge) 6.5 Creedmoor

(Brand of bullet) Barnes LRX

(Weight of bullet) 127gr

(Brand of brass) Hornady

(Type of powder) Alliants RL16

(Grains of powder) 41.0

(Brand, and type of primer) cci200 & BR-2

(COL) 2.71"

(CBTO) 2.115"

(FPS/MPS) 2729

(Rifle) Weatherby Vanguard

(Barrel Length) 24"

(Scope) Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40

(Weather conditions & temp) 73 degrees, clear skies, calm to very light wind @ 8:00

(Accuracy @ 100 yards/meters) .375" & .313"

(Notes) This is my first try with RL16. Picked 41.0gr's to see how it compared to a couple of other powders in the same burn range. After the success with the first go-around I thought I would try and repeat it. Lucky me. I did bump it up two grains to 43.0, had no pressure signs. The group did open up to 1-1/4" but its group center had the same POI as the 41.0gr load. I think I will leave well enough alone for a while and see what can do at distance.
