Other Scope Mount Manufacturers

Post by Old Army Guy »

Hi Guys,
Please give me your thoughts and experience with scope mounts from other manufactures. This subject has come up before in older threads but perhaps you have new information. Blaser may outsource their mounts like their bipods but I don’t know this. Here are some other manufacturers I have found. Some have English webpages or downloadable catalogues in English. If not, you can have Google translate the webpage.

Gun Star is a Bulgarian company. These are common on eBay and I think Euro Optics sells them. Steel rings, warrantee unknown.
http://gunstarmount.com/en-en

Contessa is an Italian company, EuroOptics sells them. Contessa mounts are typically high gloss and look attractive. They also make several Picatinny rail lengths, I think in matt finish. Mounts guaranteed for 30 years. https://www.portaotticacontessa.it/en

Dentler is a German company. Their Vario system has optical zero adjustments in the mount base somewhat like Elcan military scopes but the Dentler base stays on the rifle and a mating piece is fixed to the scope. This system allows one scope to be used on multiple rifle barrels because sight adjustment is on the base not the scope. Don’t know if you have to buy pieces separately. Dentler also makes a standard one piece mount. https://www.dentler-jagdwaffen.de/en

EAW is an old German company. They seem to have a high-end reputation. Interestingly the have very large rings to fit around the bell of the objective lens to work with a rear 30mm ring on the tube. Looks weird but make sense as it allows scope placement for better eye relief that might not otherwise be possible. Blaser mounts look standard, either one piece with two rings or two separate rings. Ring size to 40mm. Mounts guaranteed for 30 years. http://www.eaw.de

Henneberger is another German company. Like the Dentler, the Henneberger has two pieces, a base on the barrel and mating piece on the scope. Perhaps unlike the Dentler, the Henneberger base does not have adjustments. Not sure I like this but I don’t know much about them. Mounts guaranteed for 30 years. https://www.henneberger.de/index.html

Another German company, InnoGun makes InnoMounts for Blaser barrels. I have two InnoMounts for Zeiss scopes with a ZM/VM rail and one with a Picatinny rail. They work great for me. Mounts guaranteed for 10 years. https://www.innogun.de/en/home.html

MAK is still another German company. They seem to be a large diversified company that also make optics and other products. Several ring heights; ring size to 40mm. In pictures these look so much like Blaser saddle, MAK could be Blaser’s source. Mounts guaranteed for 30 or 40 years. https://shop.mak.ag/Montagen/

Osuma is a Finnish company. Mounts are made of aluminum; guaranteed for 2 years. Enough said.
http://osumaproducts.fi/en/osumaproducts

Spuhr is a Swedish company. The massive Spuhr ISMS mounts have a very high reputation among competition long-range shooters but I doubt they use Blaser rifles for this sport. I am not sure the Spuhr mount for Blaser is available in the US. 36mm mount even more expensive than Blaser saddle. https://spuhrwebshop.com/en

Tier-One is a UK company. Most economical but not sure if the base is standard Blazer quick mount, it may require an Allen wrench. The rear ring has built in bubble level. Ring size to 40mm. Mounts are made of aluminum; guaranteed for 10 years. https://tier-one.eu

I have purchased 2 Henneberger mounts from Titanium Gunworks over the years.
Both are very well made of high quality steel, adjustments in the feet are reliable and very precise.
I have been using a 2 footed model on a 9.3x62 for years without any issues.
I have just mounted a four footed model on my 500 Jeffrey, but have not shot it yet.
Both have Docter 3 sights attached.

I had recknagel, henneberger, contessa, innomount and gunstar.

Gunstar is excellent. The overcentre clamps fit every barrel tight without needing adjustments.

I have some alternatives to the Blaser in my Webshop like Henneberger and Innogun - You may have a look at them:

https://www.titanium-gunworks.de/englis ... er-waffen/
(so far there is not everything translated, but I am working on it)

Each of them has its advantages - depending on what You plan and where Your main focus is on: weight, Lowest mount, price, etc...

Best regards,
Klaus

Hi Chuck,

From what I know has the Burris the same connection like the Docter Sight - so the scope mount for Docter should work:

well, there are 2 different Henneberger mounts for it:

https://www.titanium-gunworks.de/hms-do ... 93/r8.html
which costs 159 € ex EU (without tax)
hight is 7,5 mm

or

https://www.titanium-gunworks.de/hms-sa ... =SW40495.5
which costs 273 € ex EU (without VAT)
hight is 3,5 mm only !!!

or

You could get a Innomount as well:

https://www.titanium-gunworks.de/innomo ... laser.html
which costs 209 € without VAT
height is 6 mm

the last 2 ones are also available for Aimpoint Micro with similar heights/ normal height...

Gunstar is decent for the price. Have talked to the owner (from Bulgaria) and he is a very good guy and stands by his work. I did have to do some finishing work on my picatinny rail versions, specifically to the screws to make them low profile enough to not interfere with the rail, but it was very minor. I thought these were nitrided but he explained they are hot blued and then heavily polished. It's a nice, attractive finish that looks very black.

Recknagel is my favorite German company. Contessa is very slick and very expensive, typical Italian flair. Spur and Recknagel dominate the tactical world. The Recknagel ERA-TAC adjustable base is the best adjustable base in the world.

The British company I swear by is Tier 1. Fast shipping around the world (it took less time for me to get some rings from them than it did on most of my Brownell's orders) and the quality is amazing at a very decent price.

I really like the Henneberger, gets the sight super low, and so far the 500 Jeffery has not shaken it loose.

Savannah, it’s a standard PH steel receiver with kick stop.
It’s beautiful to shoot with a 6XC.

No, just range use so far. I am way behind in my load development for a few cartridges now.

@ Allan: Thanks for sharing the pictures.

A true BIG bore! - I start feeling small with my .375 H&H... LOL

I hope You will find some adequate hunt for it when You finished the loads. I hope for one for my .375H&H as well... ;-)

What setup do you have Mchughcb, and what barrels are you swapping out?
