257 Weatherby Magnum
Just curious how everyone rates this as a long range hunting caliber.

Re: 257 Weatherby Magnum
Outstanding! . . . for Pronghorn especially (3300-3400 fps with 110g AB). Also great for deer. Its only limitation is available bullet weights (max 120g). I've used the 110g Nosler Accubond for years with great success. This chambering was one of Roy Weatherby's favorites, which surely says something.
For Elk, I jump up to 300 Weatherby, although elk have certainly been taken with the 257 Wby, I wouldn't recommend it.
I sure wish I could find a 257 Wby barrel for my Mauser M03 or Sauer 202 ! . . .
Regards,

Thanks for the response. I am surprised no one else has experience with this cartridge.
