D99 a great hunting weapon!

Post by 505Ed »

Well,

Just have to post and say I'm very happy with my D99 Duo, I can't think of a better hunting tool. A double rifle with a shotgun barrel attached.

At the range:

At home:

After regulation with RWS 293grn tug bullets: :D

Now my next pic will hopefully have a dead pig behind it! ;)

What caliber/guage is your rifle?

I'm really curious about the action. On the net are there some close-up pictures or video of the action opening/closing?

It is a D99 duo drilling 9.3x74r X 9.3x74r X 20ga. Shoots like a sniper rifle with RWS 291 and 293grn bullets.

Good shooting!

What is the point of impact of the shotgunbarrel? Do you have to look past the sight (along the barrel) when using the shotgun?

Agree with you about the D99, but mine is just a drilling as std which I'm very happy with.

This from last year right after a driven hunt where a friend and I went out to the west coast to take some goose, the 20 bore took two of them at the same range as my friends 12 bore took one, since then I've been impressed with the 20 bore

I have not shot the barrel with slugs, I've shot with 6's and BB's puts a nice pattern at 30yards This is my hog, deer and turkey gun. I'm very pleased with the D99 duo, I wished it was a little lighter, I love my BBF, It is slab slided and "feels like a 94", but the D99 with its quick follow up shot and shotgun barrel to boot make it an awesome combo.

I really like my D 99's and D99 Duos.

Being Blasers they were affordable, are very rugged, and very very accurate.

Also they are easy to scope, using the standard Blaser scope mount.

I bought my 9,3x74R D 99 Duo specifically for one hunt, that I do nearly every year.

I hunt black bear in Idaho where grouse are in season at the same time.

I wanted to have a gun with me 100% of the time that would be very effective on black bear [or elk, wolves, deer etc.] as well as be able to take a grouse at every oppertunity.

I would rather have 500 lbs of grouse meat than 500 lbs of elk meat... :D

On this hunt I might ride an ATV for 30 to 50 miles one way, and then walk deep in to the woods to hunt bear.

The Blaser D 99 is a rugged gun, and does not need to be babied.

I do this alone, so if I bump into something the "double rifle part" of the D 99 Duo is there to help save my bacon .

The 20ga bbl is there for grouse...

The D 99 Duo is very accurate, so IF I need to make a longish shot at a bear, elk, wolf, etc. the Duo, with its scope is accurate enough for the job.

It is a Great Hunters Gun.

I recall you have posted your preference for the 9.3x74R on here before, however I'm still trying to convince myself that a 9.3 is a good choice for small pigs and deer such as fallow out to 200m.

What bullet are you running/would you run if heading out after the smaller southern whitetails or would you recommend for a thin skinned 40kg fallow doe?

The D99 Duos are VERY affordable compared to most other Double Rifle Drillings.
