Zeiss Victory RF vs Leica Geovid HD RF Bino's?
I’ve been thinking of getting my first laser rangefinder and I also need to replace my 8x30 Steiners that went missing 4 years ago during a move. Both of these are insanely expensive but I believe in biting the bullet and getting top notch equipment the first time so I “only cry once”.
I’d be interested in an 8x like the 8x42 or 8x45.
Which of them is the best, clearest, and best low light as binoculars? Which is the fastest, most accurate, narrowest beam rangefinder? Which is most convenient and easy to use both as binoculars and as a rangefinder?
Is there a better option I haven’t heard of or are these two the best of the best in combination range finding binoculars?
Is there really a clear winner here or if you flipped a coin would you win either way?

I believe the Leicas are probably better, but you could flip a coin and be happy ether way.

After a few years further thought, I have decided the Swarovski El Range would make you the happiest.

Re: Zeiss Victory RF vs Leica Geovid HD RF Bino's?
I bought a pair of the new Leica Geovid HD RF Binoculars when they first came out. I used them this January on a Javalina Hunt in Arizona and was very disappointed. They worked great, I ranged several herds of Javalina and several Coues deer in various lighting conditions and out to about 1,200 yards and they seemed very accurate. However on the fourth day of my hunt they simply stopped working, I changed batteries still nothing, no display of any kind. I stopped in at the Sportsman in Mesa Arizona to compare the Leica HD to the Swarovski EL but their pair of Leica's had stopped working also. Something was up.
I contacted Eurooptics, who I had bought them from and they confirmed they had several returned for the same problem. So I sent them back and exchanged for the Swarovski EL, great binoculars but not great range finder. I had inconstant readings on several deer at ~900 yards or so, some times up to 150 yards difference, some times no reading at all. That and the fact that the appendages on the bottom bounce off my chest when hiking, I decided I didn't like them either and returned them. Now I just use my Swarovski binoculars suited for the occasion, I have several, and my Leica 1600B range finder. It's a pain to carry two units but the results are much better in my opinion.

Re: Zeiss Victory RF vs Leica Geovid HD RF Bino's?
I've used the Zeiss Victory RF in 10x45 over the past few years and have been very happy with them.
They don't have all the technology availability in newer models from other brands. They're also a little more heavy and bulky, but they work.
I've used them in all sorts of conditions and I've never had problems ranging at hunting distances.
The only thing I would say is that in very bright conditions I sometimes wish the display was a little brighter.
I've tried, but not owned, the Swarovski RF and really liked them for their lightness and handling. I don't plan on replacing my Zeiss RFs though.

Sorry to hear that Bob. Pigeon sold me the Leica Geovid 8x42 M HD and they have been working a treat.
