Friends,
For the last two months North India has witnessed an unprecedented heat wave without any break or relief. Temperatures have soared to the 45 deg C (113 deg F ) level and stayed there.
Normally when it gets so hot, a low pressure zone is created and dust storms and light rain bring relief, but not this year.
The heat has been relentless. All records of the hottest temperatures have been broken.
Lots of lemonade, coconut water and mango panna is the solution, plus loose fitting cotton long sleeves.
Still, the heat has started to wear everyone out, and mid July before the Monsoons breaks in Delhi.
Mango Panna: A cooling summer drink using raw mango pulp which is sour and mixed with iced water, salt and sugar.
HEAT !!

Heck, yesterday the newspapers reported that the paint was melting off the roads. Probably just the tar, but you know the press. . .

Re: HEAT !!
We've had two bad summers in a row with temps over 100, between 100-108 for 2-3 months. Don't think we saw anything over 108 but it was hot that's for sure. Hopefully this one won't be so bad. We've been having a lot of rain this year and that seems to knock it down some. Either way we feel your pain! When it gets so hot outside you simply can't do much of anything. I have a buddy that's in the military and he says over in the desert where they're fighting it gets over 120 up to 130. I can't imagine wearing military uniforms, packing a back pack, gun and ammo in that kind of heat. Well keep your martinis cold and stay under the shade, about the best advice we can come up with!skeetshot wrote:Heck, yesterday the newspapers reported that the paint was melting off the roads.
