Bubble level for Swarovski rail mount scopes

Post by marauder »

I was considering adding a bubble level to some of my scopes to ensure I'm not canting the rifle on longer shots. However, most of the bubble levels I've seen (Vortex, Tier-One, etc) use a ring-like setup to clamp onto the scope tube. I don't know if these would work on Swarovski SR rail mount scopes but assume no. Does anyone know of a product that might work?

I don't think a rail mount was ever designed for a bubble cant. Unless you get something professional engineered and fitted to the mount its self or some way have a small picatinny rail mounted. You can get half ring type clamps that clamp to the top of the scope but there just not going to hold and be true. From what I've seen they just look silly and don't really work. If you only shooting out to 400-500m then a cant isn't really going to make a lot of difference, as your brain will correct it anyhow. I know guys that don't use them and shoot past 1000m with no problems at all. I personal love using them as they help slow down my shot and get me to focus better. I've found side mount bubble cants work the best as you're not lifting your head off the scope. I have a few different bands and designs but I like the Accuracy 1st bubble Level the best.
Measure it, when it’s on the deck

Why can’t you just grind a small section of the rail away with an angle grinder, and put a bit of blue on it....

I think that's about the only way you could do it, if you machine something to the rail.

It could be done very neatly if done with the right equipment. I would not hesitate doing it, but I would want the right guy to do it.
I reckon a gunsmith with the right machinery would be the go, someone like Trentech would be a good choice.

All comes down to if someone really wants to do it I guess.
