Re: Scope for Blaser R8 22LR
I’m happy with the Zeiss V4 4-16x44. It’s a nice clear little scope. However the main reason I chose it was because I thought the parallax went down to 10m not 50m.
Doing it again I’d probably pick the Swarovski Z5, not because there’s anything wrong with the Zeiss, but because it would be consistent with my centrefire barrels where I run Swarovskis, and because I like the Swarovski ballistic turret setup. I may put the Zeiss V4 up for sale so let me know if interested.

I have done another complete backflip.
I was out at Cleavers this afternoon and noticed something really interesting.
They now have Zeiss V4 , 4-16x44 on special for $1109.
But, they have an illuminated number 60 reticule, and....
Parralax is now adjustable down to 10 yards!!
It’s a no brainer for that money.

That’s why the Zeiss website says that the parralax is adjustable down to 10 yards.

Hm, interesting! Nice one... So it looks like there's a few different versions floating around. Yours has 10m parallax, illumination, but no ballistic turrets. Mine has ballistic turrets, 50m parallax, no illumination. I would have not expected the min parallax to vary between models.

Yes, interesting.
10 yard parralax is a game changer for me, as that scope could do dual duties for hunting and target/comp.

Yep interesting. If I’d have seen that earlier I’d have bought it

Just buy another barrel to justify keeping the current V4, and buy another V4.
They have a few left with 10 m parallax...
